Translation: Fear not the winds of opposition oh eagle... They blow only to make you soar ever higher.
My friend Mustafa Saad passed on this little pearl of wisdom to me today, in response to my self disclosing certain drawbacks I was facing. His words came to me at a time when I find myself struggling with several hurdles in life. I called him yesterday to seek clarity, but truth be told there is no one who can give us clarity. That has to come from within. And so it did come to me. Yet in its wake it left a hole. Which makes me wonder...is ignorance bliss? We seek answers to obtain clarity, with clarity comes awareness and with awareness often more hurdles.
And yet those hurdles challenge us and we rise above them. Just like the process of self awareness... we must walk the dark tunnel of reality before we emerge into the light of complete acceptance. To truly soar we must first face the challenge. To win his Camelot, Arthur did first have to earn his spurs.
Had I not faced adversity, would I be thus strengthened?
Had I not erred, would I have this learned?
Had I not fallen, would I know how to get up?
Had I not broken, would I have seen healing?
Had I not dropped, would I ever have soared?

And I must say that you were great in potraying the character .The girl is so confident that even "Mr.Perfect" is surprised.
The character has really inspired me and I feel that Confidence,having faith in yourself are really important.

I'm here to correct u , the verse which u narrated in this blog has one mistake.
u wrote BAD-E-MUKHAFIL but the correct word is :
" Bad-e-Mukhalif "
which means opposing winds.
n the poet of this verse is the poet of the east: Sir Allama Iqbal.
it is actualy extracted from one of his poems.
hope u will correct this.
My Urdu is terrible...I know it! Thanks for the correction though... Are you sure it is one of Iqbal's though? My friend Saad said that he was not sure. Did I get the translation right?

oh yeah it is from Iqbal as ur frnd sista assured u bt he added one more correction in his comment which i forgot to notify u dat is " Tundiye " ; the very actual first word of dat verse which means Harsh.
u can understand it better by combining the 2 words lyk dis:
" Tundiye Bad-e-Mukhalif "
means Harsh opposing or opposition winds.
so here v go with the correct mafhoom or in english; meanings of dese words.

Well i just read the verse with an aerodynamic point of view and i am amazed by the way it was presented by the great master of philosphy Dr.Iqbal....technically speaking the opposing winds make up the force that is called drag and if the forces on the wings are analysed,the component of drag indeed increases the lift of the flying body....HATS OFF to Allama Iqbal..

what's next? pleeeease! I so love this nazm and this "shikwa/sawaal" has no answer. Fate? An indiscriminate, uncaring God? a benevolent God with God(!) knows what logic?
another HUGELY favourite verse from the same poem is:

your friend is right about what is in this verse by Iqbal.i personally know people who have braved through the most adverse times in life!and whether someone agrees to it or not i personally believe that accomplishments of life that benefit others and ofcourse your own self are much more important than capitalistic gains and achievements that only add letters after a person's name..i mean who gives a hoot in hades to what most gold medallists, their spouses and further their kids accomplishments as long as you dont reap any benefit from them..what everyone speaks high of is people like Edhi, Imran khan( a couple of my relatives have been treated real well at his hospital)even Lady Diana! Interestingly both imran and diana werent succesful with their first relationship..
I went to this place where they helped you prepare for CSS exam and the first day our professor told us about late poetess Parveen Shakir..she had a position in the css exam and once she was questioned on an interview on live TV that if she ever faced a really difficult siutaion in her life( the interviewer was referring to her divorce) and she said confidently
" Yes! the first time in life that i really felt challenged was when i turned over the page of my Urdu Optional CSS exam ,the firts question stated
Parveen Shakir kee kitab "Khushboo" par tanqeedi(critical) tabsara karein!"
hence what you achieve in this life is of significance NOT WHAT YOU LOSE!!
